Decorative Acoustic Wall Panels – Sound control that actually looks good. Kill echo, add texture, and turn a blank wall into a feature.

What they do

Acoustic panels absorb sound waves so your room sounds less echoey and more “dead.” Great for home offices, living rooms with TVs, gaming rooms, bedrooms, restaurants, or anywhere hard floors + bare walls make voices bounce.

How much do they help?
Look for NRC rating 0.5-0.95. NRC 0.7 = absorbs 70% of sound that hits it. You don’t need to cover every wall – 15-30% coverage of a room usually makes a big difference.

  • Tiles: 30x30cm, 60x60cm, 120x60cm – mix + match patterns

  • Hexagons: 20-40cm per side – build your own design

Where to use them

  2. Home office: Kills echo on Zoom calls. Put behind your desk

  3. Bedroom headboard wall: Looks like luxe paneling, absorbs noise for better sleep

  4. Dining room: Stops loud chatter bounce in hard rooms

  5. Hallways/stairwells: Echo hotspots

Installation

  • Slat panels: Glue with grab adhesive or screw to battens. Most are tongue-and-groove

  • Tiles: Spray adhesive, velcro strips, or pin them. Lightweight

  • DIY: All can be cut with a fine saw or Stanley knife. Very renter-friendly options exist

Pros vs Cons

Pros:

  • Reduces echo + improves speech clarity

  • Doubles as wall décor/feature

  • Adds insulation + warmth to room

  • Most are made from recycled materials

  • DIY install, no pro needed

Cons:

  • Won’t block noise from neighbors – that’s soundproofing, different job

  • Cheap foam panels look naff + collect dust

  • Dark colors can make room feel smaller

  • Good ones aren’t dirt cheap

Quick buying tips

  1. Check fire rating: Class B or better for home use

  2. Thickness matters: 9mm felt = light treatment. 20-25mm = proper absorption

  3. Air gap: Leave 2-5cm behind panel if possible. Boosts low-frequency absorption

  4. Color: Dark = cozy, light = scandi. Felt attracts dust so avoid white if you have pets

  5. Samples: Always order samples – wood tones vary massively in person
